Programs

Local foods is one of the fastest growing segments of U.S. agriculture.  Growing demand for local foods is the result of consumer interest in environmental and community concerns and increasing access to healthful food.  Our primary focus is changing the eating behaviors and culture of a the neighborhoods we serve.   Our projects and programs fall into the following areas:

  • Increasing access to fresh, affordable food

  • Increasing awareness of the benefits of community/urban gardening

  • Increasing awareness of the benefits of conservation by demonstrating practices that nurture, maintain and protect the helath of our soil, water and air

  • Creating a marketplace or hub for healthy food

  • Teaching children and families to prepare healthy foods by working with schools and church groups

  • Collaborating with local nutrition professionals to reinforce nutrition education

  • Encouraging new entrepreneurs into speciality crop industry

  • Engaging policy change in the areas of local food policy and wellness
